Big Island, VA
|Event date and time:||7/12/2013 6:00 pm|
The Sedalia Blues Society is one of 165 local chapters of the Memphis-based Blues Foundation, an organization recognized around the world as the repository of Blues history and the American home of the living Blues. The Foundation preserves and promotes Blues music by maintaining the Blues Hall of Fame and the Lifetime Achievement Award. Its Blues in the Schools program promotes education in this quintessential American music, and through local contests sponsored by affiliates such as the Sedalia Blues Society, it hosts the International Blues Challenge every year in Memphis, Tennessee.
In keeping with the spirit of the Blues Foundation , Blues @ Sedalia not only presents a healthy dollop of authentic sound, and sends contest winners in two categories to the International Blues Challenge, but also incorporates a master class in Blues musicianship free to attendees at our festival.
Master Class meeting time will be announced Saturday afternoon at the festival
Mr. Jack Roy, popularly known as Juke Joint Jackson, will lead the Blues @ Sedalia Master Class 2013. Mr. Roy will share his knowledge and skills with attendees free of charge on Saturday, July 13 at the Blues Festival. Participation is free to attendees, young musicians included. Bring your instrument along if you want to fully benefit from your time with this consummate bluesman.
